How do I install Simply SEO Agent?
Install directly from the Shopify App Store with one click. After granting the requested OAuth scopes, you're redirected back to your store and can run your first audit immediately — no setup wizard or onboarding tour required.
Do I need any technical skills to use it?
No. Every action in the App is one-click — auto-fixes, blog generation, scheduling. We never ask you to edit code, theme files, or metafields manually. If you can install a Shopify app, you can use Simply SEO Agent.
How long does the first audit take?
Most stores complete their first audit in under 2 minutes. Larger catalogs (over 5,000 SKUs) may take 3–5 minutes depending on page size. You can keep working — we'll notify you when results are ready.
Which Shopify plans are supported?
All Shopify plans are supported, including Basic, Shopify, Advanced, Plus, and Starter. Some advanced features (like theme editing) require the merchant to have a paid Shopify plan rather than Starter.
Can I use Simply SEO Agent with my existing SEO tools?
Yes. Simply SEO Agent only modifies metadata you explicitly approve. It plays nicely with Yoast, JSON-LD, third-party schema apps, and most page-builder tools. We auto-detect existing schema and won't overwrite it.
How does usage-based billing work?
Every plan includes a generous free token allowance each month. Once you exhaust the free pool, AI operations are billed at fractions of a cent per token via Shopify's usage-charge API — and never above your plan's monthly cap. You stay in control: no surprise bills.
How are charges processed?
All charges (base fee + usage) go through Shopify's billing API and appear on your regular Shopify invoice. We never see or store your card details. Pro-rated upgrades and refunds are handled automatically by Shopify.
Can I change plans?
Yes. Upgrade any time — Shopify pro-rates the difference. Downgrades take effect at the next billing cycle. Cancellations stop charges immediately and keep the App functional until the end of the current period.
Is there a free trial?
The Free plan never expires and includes 5,000 free tokens / month. Paid plans don't currently include a separate trial — the Free plan acts as your trial.
Will I be charged if I uninstall mid-month?
Charges stop immediately on uninstall. Any pending Shopify usage charges are finalized on your next regular Shopify invoice. The base subscription fee for the partial month is pro-rated by Shopify.
Can I set a lower spend cap than my plan default?
Yes. Go to Billing → Spend limit and lower the cap to any value below your plan's default. We never charge above the cap you've approved with Shopify.
Do prices include taxes?
Listed prices are exclusive of tax. Shopify automatically calculates and adds applicable VAT/GST/sales tax based on your shop's billing country.
What is a token?
A token is a chunk of text the AI processes (~3–4 characters of English). A typical SEO audit uses about 800–3,000 tokens; a full blog post runs 8,000–15,000 tokens. We always show the projected token cost before you run a job.
How are tokens counted — by input or output?
Both. AI providers charge for input tokens (what we send) and output tokens (what we receive). Output tokens cost ~5× more than input tokens. Our usage rates are blended (60% input, 40% output) so you can reason about a single number.
What happens when I run out of free tokens?
Operations continue, but each one is billed at your plan's per-1K-token rate via Shopify's usage-charge API. We send an in-app notification at 80% and 100% of your free pool, and again at 80% and 100% of your spend cap.
Why do you use Sonnet vs. Haiku?
Sonnet is the high-quality model (used for complex SEO audits and full blog drafts). Haiku is the fast & cheap model (used for short-form generation, classification, and bulk operations). The App picks the right model per task automatically.
Can I bring my own AI key?
Not currently. We pool token usage at the provider level so we can offer lower per-token rates than direct purchase. BYOK is on the roadmap for Enterprise customers.
How many pages can a single audit cover?
Up to 500 pages per audit on all paid plans (250 on Free). The audit prioritizes your homepage, product pages, collection pages, and indexed blog articles in that order.
What signals does the audit check?
30+ checks covering: title tags, meta descriptions, H1/H2 structure, image alt text, internal/external links, schema markup, Core Web Vitals (LCP/INP/CLS), canonical tags, robots directives, hreflang, llms.txt presence, and AI citation readiness.
Can I re-run an audit?
Yes — there's no limit on audit reruns. Repeated audits help track score improvement over time. Each audit is stored under SEO → History so you can compare snapshots.
Does it audit dynamic pages and JS-rendered content?
Yes. Our crawler executes JavaScript before extracting content, so pages built with apps like Shogun, PageFly, or theme sections render correctly. Server-rendered pages (the default for Shopify) are even faster.
Will running an audit affect my Shopify store?
No. Audits are read-only — they crawl public pages exactly like Googlebot would. Nothing in your store changes until you explicitly approve a fix.
How does the blog generator work?
Pick a source (a product, multi-product collection, service, or feature), choose a content goal (awareness, traffic, conversion), and our 9-agent pipeline researches keywords, drafts an outline, writes, optimizes, and adds internal links — all while you watch the live progress.
Can I edit the generated blog before publishing?
Yes. After generation, the article opens in a rich editor where you can tweak headings, paragraphs, meta tags, internal links, and the CTA. Publish to Shopify with one click when you're happy.
Will it publish automatically without my approval?
Only if you choose 'Auto publish' mode when creating a job. The default is 'Manual', which generates the draft and waits for you to review and click Publish.
Does it write in my brand voice?
Yes. We profile your existing product copy and storefront tone, then prompt the AI to match that voice. You can also specify tone (professional / friendly / playful), audience persona, and target keywords explicitly per job.
Do you read or store my customer data?
No. We do not request read_customers, read_orders, or any payment-related scopes. Customer data is never read or transmitted. Only product, collection, blog, and theme metadata is accessed.
Where is my shop data stored?
Encrypted at rest in AWS (region depends on your shop's primary location). Shopify access tokens use AES-256 encryption. Database is in a private subnet with restricted IAM access.
Is the data sent to Anthropic used to train models?
No. Anthropic does not train its models on data submitted via the API. Data is retained only for the period required by Anthropic's service terms (currently 30 days for abuse monitoring).
Are you GDPR / CCPA compliant?
Yes. We honor Shopify's customers/redact and shop/redact webhooks within 30 days. Merchants can request data access, correction, or erasure at any time by emailing our support team.
Can multiple team members access the App?
Yes. Use Settings → Team to invite collaborators with role-based permissions (Owner, Admin, Editor, Viewer). Permissions follow Shopify's collaborator model — your store owner controls access.
Can one account manage multiple stores?
Yes. Each Shopify store gets its own subscription, but you can switch between connected stores from the top-right shop selector without re-logging.
What happens to my data if I switch plans?
Nothing — all your audits, blog drafts, backups, and settings persist across plan changes. Only your token allowance and feature access changes.
Do you offer discounts for non-profits or education?
Yes. Email support@lucentcommerce.com from your organization domain with proof of status, and we'll apply a 30% discount on any paid plan.
Is there a special plan for agencies?
Yes — agencies managing multiple client stores qualify for our Agency program with volume token discounts and a single-pane dashboard. Contact us for details.
My audit got stuck — what should I do?
Audits typically auto-recover within 30 seconds. If one stays stuck for over 5 minutes, hit Cancel and re-run; if the issue persists, the live status banner will show a 'Get help' button that pre-fills a support ticket.
I uninstalled but I'm still seeing charges. Why?
Pending usage charges from the partial month are finalized on your next Shopify invoice — that's the trailing charge you're seeing. The base subscription fee was already pro-rated and stopped at uninstall.
The app says my Shopify token expired. How do I fix it?
Go to Settings → Reconnect Shopify and re-authorize. This usually happens after a Shopify password change or a manual token revocation. The reconnect flow takes about 10 seconds.
I rolled back a fix — can I redo it?
Yes. Every change is versioned in SEO → Backups. Click the version you want to restore and confirm. The backup history goes back 90 days on all paid plans.
